CHF Grants Funds to the Parish to Give Front Doors a Facelift

The Cathedral of Saint Paul requested a $85,882 grant to fund the complete restoration of the three sets of main entry doors on the east side (front) of the Cathedral. These doors require repair and refinishing due to natural weathering, wear and tear, in addition to occurrences of recent vandalism. The door refinishing will also accommodate new hardware installation which will enable electronic access control, a new feature on which Cathedral staff placed a high priority.

This project is part one of a broad restoration program for all the Cathedral’s exterior doors. Part two includes three sets of Selby Avenue entry doors. Finally, part three includes three sets of Dayton Avenue entry doors.

The Cathedral’s objective is to keep the cost of the project as affordable as possible. Cathedral staff plan to assist to the extent possible to minimize the labor costs for the project.

Community Event; Magnum Chorum

The Magnum Chorum performs “Music of Transforming Artistry and Spirit” on November 5th at 2:30pm at the Cathedral. This is a ticketed event so make sure to buy in advance!

History: Founded in the choral tradition of St. Olaf College in 1991, the 55-voice choir presents colorful concerts, commissions and premieres new sacred works, and provides music for worship. Membership was originally limited to St. Olaf graduates but since 2005 auditions are open to everyone. The name, Magnum Chorum, is intended to convey the importance of the choir in expressing the divine and the infinite through voice, music, and text.
