February 2021 Newsletter

We are feeling grateful for the warmer temperatures and sunshine and the promise that spring is right around the corner.

Speaking of what’s good with the world, we recognize the generosity of Cathedral Rector, Fr. John Ubel, who is also a member of the CHF Board of Curators, for donating his prized and extensive baseball card collection to the Aim Higher Foundation. The proceeds from the sale will fund scholarships for students attending Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul-Minneapolis. Above is a photo from the Catholic Spirit of Fr. Ubel with part of his collection. Click on the link below to watch a report on the donation from WCCO TV’s Mike Max.

Another round of gratitude goes to our Cathedral Festival of Lights donors who contributed $83,500 to the sacristy floor renovations. The tile and marble shine once again. The six-month project required tearing up all the old tile, matching the century old design, and carefully relaying it around all the curved outlines of the beaux arts designed room. The floor looks flawless and ready for another 100 years of wear. A special thanks goes out to Saint Paul Linoleum & Carpet Co., and Classic Marble Restoration.

And finally, we saved the best for last: our Gift Shop Special!

We are calling it a Lenten Special. From now until Easter, you can purchase a coloring book and specially-designed tote bag for $20 plus $4.50 for shipping/handling. Gratitude to InSehnDesigns for the detailed work on both gift items. Order from www.cathedralsaintpaul.org and click ONLINE STORE.

As always, we welcome your donations.
