French organist from Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris to perform concert
On Tuesday, October 25th, at 7:30 p.m. organist Vincent Dubois will present a solo concert on the Great Cathedral Pipe Organs at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. M. Dubois is one of three titulaire organists at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, and is one of the finest concert organists in the world today.
- His program will include works of J.S. Bach, César Franck, Camille Saint-Saens, and Maurice Duruflé.
- He will conclude the program with an improvisation. The art of improvisation is an integral part of liturgical music at Notre-Dame, and Vincent is a renowned improviser.
- Dubois is one of three titular organists at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, a post he earned in January 2016 after a comprehensive audition and competition.
- Dubois serves alongside Olivier Latry, who performed the Cathedral’s memorable Inaugural Organ Concert in October 2013 that “packed the house’ as we celebrated the completion of the Sound Off! Campaign to rebuild the Great Cathedral Pipe Organs.
The event is sponsored by the Cathedral Heritage Foundation, and a freewill offering for the organ maintenance fund will be accepted.
Free parking is widely available in the parking lot on the Selby side of the Cathedral as well as street parking. Handicap-accessible entrances are at the upper Selby door and the lower Dayton door which has a short driveway for drop-off and an elevator inside the door to bring you up to the main floor. Questions?
