Visitors come from great distances!

We met this family who made a visit to the Cathedral on their way to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. “Grandma” was returning to South Korea. The young couple and their daughter live in Ames, Iowa while they earn graduate degrees in engineering at Iowa State University. They took a great interest in the Hmong display, part of the new Immigrants and the Cathedral museum exhibit. Thank you for visiting!

Museum Visits Increase

A recent audit of museum visitor traffic reports that we have, on average, 25 visitors per day, and 3,000 visitors per year. These numbers will be more impressive when you understand that we have very limited open hours in the museum due to a shortage of volunteers. Currently, the Cathedral museum is open 9.5 hours per week, only one of those hours falls on the weekend when many tourists are visiting.

Are you interested in volunteering as a docent in the Cathedral museum?

John Ireland is in the House

Our newest artistic acquisition, a bronze bust of Archbishop John Ireland, has been installed in the Founder’s Chapel, located in the northeast corner on the main level of the Cathedral.

CHF Curator Dr. John Dowdle commissioned Dr. Mark Dahl, an orthopedic surgeon and acclaimed sculptor, to create the piece in 2015 in honor of the 100th anniversary of Ireland’s death.
